Once upon a time there was a girl who couldn't quite find what it was she wanted to do with her life.  She spent years working in New Zealand film & television with some of the best technicians in the country (and even the world on the odd occasion).  She would get up each morning and head into the office where she would juggle emails, crew, phone calls and budgets.  It was a wonder to watch.
As much as she loved and thrived on the 'pulling it all together at the last minute' and having her fingers in so many pies within one job, she still didn't feel fulfilled.
Then she hired a camera operator who opened her eyes to the beauty of what we 'see' every day.  That combined with the fortuitousness of her brother acquiring a DSLR and her passion was found & ignited.  an adventure began.
She left her job,  moved cities and started a new life to learn the inner workings of a camera, light, and composition.
Breathing new air, she fell in love with her new city and continued to study which lead to her being chosen as the honorary Artist in Residence after she had completed her diploma.  She honed her skills and created 'pieces of art' and discovered the joys of portraiture and weddings to supplement her artistic endeavors.
Once completed, the hard work began establishing herself as working photographer.  It was then, that she discovered a great satisfaction from shooting for commercial clients. Her years of working in documentaries combined with her natural ability to make people feel comfortable came to the forefront and the dream became reality.

Kirsty Macdonald has a natural affinity with people which leads to her being able to put people at ease immediately and give them the photos & memories, they want.
